The United States began preparations for the transfer of Javelin anti-tank missile systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was stated by the special representative of the U.S. State Department for Ukraine Kurt Volker in an interview with «Radio Svoboda».
Volker stressed that time is needed to prepare objects where complexes will be stored.
"We work together on how to transport them and bring them to work in the Armed Forces," he said, adding that this is a defensive technique.
"It is useful only in the event of a tank attack. So this is precisely a defensive weapon, not for attack and not for use on the conflict line. And I think Ukraine largely shares this position," Volker said.
Recall, In January, the head of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Viktor Muzhenko, expressed confidence that in the course of six months, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can get American anti-tank systems Javelin.
According to Muzhenko, Ukraine is already working on the preparation of special places for the storage of American weapons. The General Staff assured that Javelin's systems would not fall into the hands of pro-Russian militants.
