About the danger of Russian social networks, the SSU staff told students, the public and media representatives in the front-line Pokrovsk of the Donetsk region.
7 million accounts in social networks "Vkontakte" and "Odnoklassniki" broadcast anti-Ukrainian information - this number were sounded by SSU officials during the meeting in the Donetsk region, IA “Vchasno” reports.
Many accounts were used purposefully for propaganda and were not pages of real users. Studies were conducted in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
"In one of the southern regions, from 70 to 80% of the accounts of these social networks were administered from Russia and the occupied Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk regions," Julia Laputina, deputy head of the department for counter-intelligence protection of the interests of the state in the information security of the SSU said. - In the Lugansk region, cases were recorded when underage children through social networks were recruited by the Russian Federal Security Service for anti-Ukrainian actions not only on the Internet but also for acts of vandalism against national symbols and monuments and other actions. "
Through personal pages in social networks, Russian special services received full information about the location and activities of Ukrainian servicemen and any other citizens who communicated through "VK" and "OK" with their friends.
By installing the Yandex program on their mobile phones, the Ukrainians automatically agreed to the transfer of personal data to third parties - such persons in Russia are the employees of the Federal Security Service, who received full control over users. Similar methods were applied through Mail.ru and other resources.
All this became the reason for the prohibition in Ukraine of social networks Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki. Despite the fact that such a measure caused a lot of criticism among Ukrainian users, SSU officials explained - after conducting the research and analysis of the situation, the safety of the people and the integrity of the state were put first.
As an alternative to Russian social networks, Ukrainians are encouraged to support domestic developers of the social network Ukrainians (https://www.ukrainians.co), which is not inferior to Vkontakte but is safer for users.
