The lowest annual rate of civilian casualties during the entire war period was recorded in Donbas. This was announced during the presentation of the 25th report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine by the Head of the mission Fiona Frazer.
«In 2018, we recorded 279 civilian casualties — 55 people were killed and 224 injured. This is two times less than the civilian casualties in 2017 and the lowest annual civilian casualties for the entire period of the conflict», Fiona Frazer said.
She also reported that from November 16, 2018, to February 15, 2019, the mission recorded the smallest casualties among the civilian population for all periods. In particular, two were killed, and another 11 men and three women were injured.
In general, since the beginning of the war, according to a monitoring mission, more than 3,000 civilians were killed and 9,000 wounded.
