A Rehabilitation Center for Children with Special Needs from Donbass Appeared in Kiev

Volunteers created a rehabilitation center in Kiev for children with special needs from families of internally displaced persons.

For three years of work, volunteers found out the need for such a center. He has not yet earned at full capacity, but some classes with children are already taking place, 5 Channel reports.

“All funding for this rehabilitation center comes from donors. For people who come to receive these services, everything is free. Independently this is unreal. Services of psychologist cost from 250 UAH, speech therapist too. This is very expensive," Victoria Vasilevskaya, the head of the 911 Social and Pedagogical Center project, says.

For children with serious illnesses - cerebral palsy, autism, paralysis and a number of other physical and mental ailments - group art therapy sessions are held in the volunteer rehabilitation center. Later, their drawings are planned to be exhibited at the stands of the volunteer center.

Volunteers plan that in the future, masseurs, psychologists, rehabilitation therapists and other specialists will work in the center for children from uncontrolled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

On the account in the volunteer center, there are more than 80 internally displaced children with serious illnesses.

So far, the rehabilitation center is working on the summer playground. A full-fledged opening will take place in a few weeks.
