US special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said that the US authorities are actively discussing the question of sending weapons to Ukraine for fighting with pro-Russian militants in the Donbass. It was stated in an interview with the BBC, IA "Vchasno" reports.
According to Volker, delivery of weapons to the Ukrainian armed forces can change Moscow's behavior in the Ukrainian question.
"Defensive weapons, ones that would allow Ukraine to defend itself, and to take out tanks, for example, would actually to help to stop Russia threatening Ukraine", Volker said.
It should be reminded that on July 23, the US special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker arrived in the Donbass during the official visit. As part of the American delegation to the ATO area, the US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch also arrived.
Earlier, United States Air Force General Paul Selva at the hearings in the Senate said that the Pentagon, the US European Command and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces strongly support the provision of Ukraine with lethal weapons.
