As a result of the armed conflict in the East of Ukraine, from April 2014 to the end of 2018, between 12 800 and 13 000 people were killed. Such data was provided by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission at the request of the dpa agency.
According to the mission, about 3,300 civilians in Donbass were killed, 4,000 were servicemen of the Ukrainian Army, and 5500 — armed militants supported by Russia. Another 27,000 to 30,000 people were injured during the conflict.
At the end of 2017, the UN reduced the number of deaths due to the conflict in the East of Ukraine — 10,300 people. The number of wounded than was estimated at 24 thousand.
In 2018, according to the UN, 55 civilians were killed in Donbas (twice less than in 2017), 224 were injured. Ukrainian soldiers estimate their losses in 100 dead and more than 500 wounded. Pro-Russian separatists reported about 162 dead and 310 wounded. In general, more than 4,700 people were killed in the territories controlled by separatists since the beginning of the conflict.
