The film «Donbass» directed by Sergei Loznitsa qualified and got on the longlist for participation in «Oscar». The film will compete for the award in the category «Best Foreign Language Film». This was reported on the page of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee on Facebook.
American Film Academy will announce shortlists on January 22, 2019, and the award ceremony will take place on February 24 in Los Angeles.

«Donbass» was shot in the co-production of four countries — Ukraine, the Netherlands, France, and Romania. The roles were played by both Ukrainian and Russian actors.
The film consists of 13 intertwining plots, which demonstrate different spheres of life in the occupied territories. The tape shows how militants take away a car from a local businessman, immigrants huddle in the basement, an official steals property in a hospital and journalist shoot fake news for television.
In the Ukrainian film distribution tape will be released on October 18, 2018.
