Meeting of Volker and Surkov: Russian Federation Rejected Almost All Proposals of the United States on Peacekeepers in Donbass

Representatives of Russia and the United States in Belgrade discussed the possibility of placing the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbass.

During the meeting between Russian Presidential Representative Vladislav Surkov and U.S Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, options for deploying the UN contingent in the ATO zone were voiced. At the same time, the Russian side accepted only three paragraphs out of 29 that were proposed by the Americans to the draft resolution of the Security Council, TACC reports.

Vladislav Surkov noted that "three is better than zero".

The Presidential Representative also said that the parties "decided to continue work on bringing together positions."

"Representatives of the United States and Russia agree on one thing - Minsk agreements should be implemented", - the Russian Presidential Representative said.

At the same time, the message of the U.S Embassy in Russia after the meeting says that the opinions expressed during the meeting will be analyzed, and further options for solving the problem are considered.

"It is not surprising that the United States and Russia have different concepts for how to make peace, but we will continue to work to get there. There has always been a need for a combination of political and security measures to be taken under Minsk, - it is said in the message of Embassy. - Both sides agreed to reflect on the discussions today and to think about further ways to address this challenge".
