The material of «Komsomolskaya Pravda» reported that residents of Gorlovka live under constant bombardment, and in order to have a livelihood they sell what they grow in their kitchen gardens, so the market revived with the onset of war.
The edition cites the words of market sellers in Gorlovka, who allegedly told the journalist that residents of the territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities go to the occupied city for salo (white pork fat).
Also in the article it is reported that a taxi ride from Gorlovka to cities controlled by Kiev costs 1000 hryvnias ($39), and for the Russian language in the Ukrainian Donbass you can be killed.
Ukrainians go to Gorlovka for salo
Correspondent of "KP" went to the long-suffering Donbas city to see how people spend the summer of the fourth year of the war
"It is not true that they go to Gorlovka for salo from Ukraine, - a resident of the occupied city told to journalists of "Vchasno". - In fact, from Gorlovka they go for salo and meat to Ukrainian Konstantinovka and Bahmut, because it is cheaper there. Everything is cheaper there".
Also, Gorlovka resident denied information that from Gorlovka to the nearest settlements controlled by Ukraine, a taxi ride costs 1000 hryvnias.
"The road by taxi from Gorlovka to Bahmut is 450 UAH ($17,5), and this is the highest price, - resident said. - You can negotiate with a taxi driver about a trip for 350 hryvnias and even for 300 hryvnias".
We work from dawn to dusk. A small amount of money we have from the market - 5 thousand. But this is a tangible increase to the family budget - in Gorlovka such an average salary. In Ukraine it is worse. My mother lives there. Previously, I could go to her through the field in 10 minutes. Now I spend at least 24 hours to see her. I have to pay a thousand hryvnias for the road to Ukrainian taxi drivers. They go with you and they are silent. If you will talk about happy pioneering childhood - you will be given a prison term. Or worse, as it once was when a guy and a girl were killed. Bullies came to them, asked the way. Those answered in Russian. The boy was beated, and the girl was stabbed in the stomach with a knife. And murders were not found. Probably, they were not searched.
Also, the Gorlovka resident commented on the story published by the Russian newspaper that on the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Donetsk region, a young couple was killed for a question in Russian.
"I and my family and friends are constantly in the Ukrainian Bahmut, Konstantinovka, Toretsk, there everyone speaks Russian, - the resident of Gorlovka said. – There are plenty of bullies everywhere. In Gorlovka, attacks and robberies often occur, I think crime is everywhere. But in order to have some attacks on the Donbass because of the Russian language, I did not have to face and I do not know about such cases".
According to the interlocutor, a story about a young couple who asked the way in Russian and who was allegedly killed for that was shown several years ago by one of the Russian TV channels.
"This incident was told back in the times of the Maidan, it allegedly happened in Kiev, - the inhabitant of the occupied city says. - I think this story was distorted and for some reason transferred to the territory of Donbass."
According to Gorlovka residents, the statement that "the market in the city has come to life" is also wrong.
"I will tell you the truth - the market was what it was, it remained that way, - the local resident asserts. - The prices are higher than in the Ukrainian territory."
For example, watermelons now cost from 10 to 13 rubles (from 4.29 to 5.28 hryvnias or from 17 to 22 cents) per kilogram.
Tomatoes from 19 (small and bad) to 30 rubles (from 8.15 to 12.87 hryvnias or from 32 to 50 cents)
Cucumbers - 45 rubles (19.30 hryvnias, 75 cents) per kilogram.
The most expensive pork tenderloin - 300 rubles (128.69 hryvnias, $5) per kilogram.
The whole chicken - 120 rubles (51.48 hryvnias, $2) for a kilogram, the whole leg - from 110 to 130 rubles kg. (From 47.19 to 55.76 hryvnias, from $1.83 to $2.17).
And if the situation on the collective farm market has not changed, then the clothing market is dying out.
"In the market "Alexandria "(the largest clothing market in Gorlovka), almost none of the sellers stayed, - the resident of the city says. - In department store (a trading house, where the clothing stores were located), there are already half of the sellers. The taxes remained the same, but there are fewer buyers, and it is hard and expensive to carry goods now. To carry one bag with the goods, at the Ukrainian checkpoint you need to pay 500 hryvnias ($19.44). On "DNR" check-point also need to pay, but how much - I will not tell you, and no one will tell you. We can not talk about this. We have recently execution for bribes, it spoken that Zakharchenko has already signed a decree".
At the same time, residents of Gorlovka said that it is almost impossible to close a private enterprise in an occupied city, this procedure takes more than a year, and all this time entrepreneurs have to pass zero reports. And in the event that the report is not delivered on time, you have to pay a fine of 500 rubles ($8.34).
Also, according to the residents of Gorlovka, there are fewer and fewer enterprises in the city.
"There are no working mines either in Gorlovka or in neighboring Enakievo, - the local resident said. - But the dewatering in them is still working. A machine-building plant named after Kirov Does not work, they only repair the equipment, well, you understand what technique. Stirol does not work. They say that now they are releasing medicines, but this is the one-hundredth part of what was released. My neighbor works for Stirol, he goes to work, but he does not receive a salary since January because the enterprise does not produce anything. More than half of the workers were dismissed at all".
