IDPs protest against pressure from the administration of the hostel, with the knowledge of which light, water, and heating are cut-off to people, and they are threatened and forced to leave their homes.
About 25 families of IDPs live in the hostel in Kustanaiska, 6. Among of them, there are families with many children, families with disabled children, almost every family has pensioners, Natalia Tselovalnichenko, a lawyer of the “Luhansk Right Defense Group”, told journalists of IA “Vchasno”.
According to the lawyer, IDP families have been living there for three years already, and for almost two years the administration of the hostel has been using illegal methods to evict people.
"They turn off the light, hot water, heating, break into the rooms, threaten, try to forcibly evict, - Natalia Tselovalnichenko said. - People are desperate, they are brought to a nervous breakdown".
According to the lawyer, the "Luhansk Right Defense Group" is engaged in the protection of migrants from Kustanaiska, 6. Human rights activists wrote appeals to the Cabinet of Ministers, met with the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs Chernysh, appealed to the Ministry of Justice.
“In June, the Cabmin promised us to create a working group to develop a mechanism for cost recovery dormitories, which are compact places of residence for IDPs, - Natalia Tselovalnichenko said. - But nothing was done. There is also no fair tariff for internally displaced persons. This makes it possible for administrations of compact places of residence of IDPs to overstate tariffs, demanding any debts from them".
According to the lawyer, this is the situation in the dormitory in Kustanaiska, 6.
Natalia Tselovalnichenko also reported that now the court is considering a case of eviction of internally displaced persons. There is no the court's decision yet, but the administration of the hostel is trying in every possible way to evict people by illegal methods.
"On October 16, about 30 IDPs will go on a hunger strike, people will step outside the US embassy in Ukraine and the EU mission, - the lawyer said. - Many of those who intend to participate in the hunger strike have serious health problems, so the danger that the action will lead to tragedy is quite high."
One of the organizers of the protest, an IDP living in a hostel in Kustanaiska, Sergey Stulov, posted on his page on the social network an application for a share, saying that the purpose of the protest is to convey to the US and European countries information about how rights are violated
"The Government of Ukraine continues to receive from the US and EU governments the amount to address the problems of IDPs, to carry out reforms aimed at improving the situation in the country, - an activist wrote on the social network. - But such funds, in our opinion, taking into account the above-mentioned situation with the rights of IDPs, are spent not for the intended purpose. So, our requirement to the US embassy and the EU mission is to bring the situation about systemic violations of the IDPs' rights to their leadership - the governments of donor states with a view to conducting an international audit of the targeted use of funds by the government of Ukraine".
