Member of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission died in the Kramatorsk. The man got into a traffic accident early on the morning of January 18.
The accident occurred at about 6 a.m. January 18. On the spot, the police found that the car "Deo Lanos" moved from the railway station along Gamper Street towards O. Tikhii Street, drove to the oncoming traffic and collided with the car "Gazelle", which was moving in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, the 59-year-old driver was injured and taken to a medical facility. The 47-year-old passenger died on the spot. The 63-year-old driver of "Gazelle" was not injured. In the Ukrainian media appears information that the deceased was an OSCE employee.
Information on this fact is included in the Unified register of pre-trial Investigations by prequalification - Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of traffic safety rules by persons driving vehicles).
Head of the OSCE SMM to Ukraine Alexander Hug officially confirmed the death of his employee in the accident.
"I can confirm that tragically yesterday early morning a monitor, an international staff member has died after being involved in a traffic accident in Kramatorsk, - Alexander Hug answered the journalists' question during a briefing at the Ukrainian crisis media center. - We are currently in contact with his family, with authorities and respective delegation. We extend our condolences to the family of the monitor and call up on you to respect the privacy of the family in these difficult times."
The head of the service did not say the name of the deceased employee of the OSCE SMM. Alexander Hug did not voice and the circumstances under which the accident occurred.
