Poroshenko Called on NATO to Send Warships to the Sea of Azov

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called on the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance to send warships to the Sea of Azov.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called on the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) to send warships to the Sea of Azov after Russia's attack on Ukrainian sailors in the Kerch Strait. «Livyi bereh» reports about it with reference to the German edition Bild.

«Germany is one of the closest allies, and we hope that the NATO states are ready to send ships to the Sea of Azov to support Ukraine and ensure security,» Poroshenko said, commenting on the seizure of Ukrainian naval vessels by Russia.

Ukrainian president noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin sees himself as a «Russian emperor», and Ukraine as a colony of Russia. After the occupation of the Crimea and Donbas, the Azov Sea became the next target.

«The only language that Putin understands is the cohesion of the Western world,» Poroshenko stressed. «We cannot accept this aggressive policy of Russia, first it was Crimea, then Eastern Ukraine, now he wants the Sea of Azov.» Germany also has to ask itself: what will Putin do next time if we do not stop him? «
