The intelligence services of Moldova suggest that Russians recruited militants from the Autonomous Republic of Gagauzia in the south of the country.
According to Reuters, the Moldovan special services received information about the recruitment of residents of Gagauzia from the Security Service, after which they tracked, detained and interrogated militants who returned from the Donbass.
It is reported that the recruited Gagauzes were first sent to a training camp in Rostov, after which they were transferred to the ATO zone to participate in military operations.
Reuters reports that a source in the country's government and two diplomatic sources reported this information. At the same time, there are no data on how many militants were recruited by the Russians in Moldova.
