In the reasoning part of the court’s verdict, which was read by Vladyslav Devyatko, a judge of the Obolon district court, it is said that Yanukovych appealed to Russian President Volodymyr Putin with a call to send troops to Ukraine.
The court found that on March 1, 2014, Viktor Yanukovich on the territory of the Russian Federation intentionally and to help violate the sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as to legitimize the Russian aggression, composed and sent an appeal to Putin with a request to enter in Ukraine the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
«Despite the defendant’s non-recognition of guilt, the court, after hearing the testimony of witnesses, examining the experts' conclusions, documents and material evidence, assessing the arguments of the prosecution and the defense, considers that the guilt of the accused of committing crimes under part 1 of art. 111, part 5 of art. 27, part 2 of art. 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is proved by appropriate and admissible evidence», the judge said.
