The Escalation Is Inevitable: Hug about the Situation in Donbass

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine recorded more than 3.2 thousand violations of the ceasefire in Donbass last week.

Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, Alexander Hug, is confident that the conflict is gaining momentum.

“Last week, the OSCE SMM in Ukraine recorded 3,266 ceasefire violations. All of them were committed by the sides promised not to commit such violations, — Hug said today during a briefing in Kyiv. — Experience is show and indicated our warnings in every occasion that escalation is inevitable. We have seen the escalation before, and warned in advance. We have monitored and reported the facts showing the danger. Every time these warnings have been ignored".

“It's time to recognize facts, time to face reality, — Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE SMM to Ukraine said. — So long as weapons and personal remain on place, not only will violence continue but it will escalate”.
