Last week, the mission stated an increase in the number of ceasefire violations by 60%, compared with a week before. It was announced at the briefing in the Ukrainian crisis media center by the Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, Alexander Hug.
"We recorded over 9 thousand violations last week - the highest weekly rate since mid-June," - Hug said.
He added that most of the ceasefire violations (30%) were in the area Avdiivka-Yasinovataya - Donetsk airport.
Earlier, Hug noted that in winter fighting in the Donbass may become sharply aggravated due to weather conditions: it is much easier to move heavy weapons on frozen ground.
Alexander Hug also stated that during the past weeks the number of violations of the ceasefire regime was constantly growing.
In some sections of the almost 500-kilometer contact line, the parties of the conflict are so close that they can see each other, he recalled.
Hug added that tanks and artillery weapons and rocket launcher systems are being used again and again in the Donbass.
