At the same time, the official representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Stephane Dujarric stated that the UN Secretary-General received a letter from the Kremlin with a project on the establishment of a mission to promote the protection of OSCE observers in the southeast of Ukraine. He noted that the secretariat of the organization will be guided only by decisions of the Security Council.
According to RIA Novosti, Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN, Vladimir Yelchenko, in turn, said that Ukraine, if necessary, can submit its draft resolution on peacekeepers in the Donbass, or the parties will work on the basis of the Russian project, on condition to its adjustment taking into account the position of Kiev.
According to Yelchenko, Kyiv insists that the mandate of the mission should be broader, and not concern the protection of the OSCE CMM, and peacekeepers should be located right up to the border with the Russian Federation.
