In the officially announced draft defense budget of the USA for 2020, it is expected to provide Ukraine $ 250 million to strengthen security and defense within the framework of the «Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, USAI» program. It is stated in the message of the US Embassy in Ukraine on Facebook.
According to the document, the funds will be sent «in support of the Armed Forces and the national security forces of Ukraine and for the replacement of any armaments and defense goods that have already been provided to Ukraine by the United States».
It is noted that compared to the budget request for 2019, the proposed amount of assistance to Ukraine is increased by 50 million dollars.
In the future, the budget request should be discussed in the US Congress, where changes and additions can be made. Thus, the actual volumes of assistance to Ukraine will be known after the completion of the entire process of passing the document.
