Ukrainians Won’t Be Able to Receive Money Transfers from Russia to Ukraine Through Foreign Payment Systems

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a federal law that prohibits the transfer of funds to Ukraine through foreign payment systems.

The relevant document of April 4 was published on the official portal of the legal information of the Russian Federation, reports IA "Vchasno".

Restrictions will apply only to transfers without opening a bank account.

Cross-border money transfers to Ukraine will be possible only if the payment system operator and service operators are controlled by Russia directly or indirectly. The innovations will take effect within 30 days after the signing of the law.

The ban applies to all countries that have banned the payment systems of Russian operators that are registered in the Central Bank. The Bank of Russia will publish information about these countries on their official website.

“The document is aimed at eliminating the negative consequences of the ban on the operation of Russian payment systems on the territory of Ukraine,” the law co-author, deputy Vladislav Reznik, commented to the Russian media.

It should be reminded that September 17, 2016, the President of Ukraine introduced the decision of the NSDC about sanctions against the Russian Federation. The list includes six Russian money transfer operators: “Zolotaya Corona”, “Kolibri”, International Money Transfers System Leader, “Unistream”, Anelik and Blizko.
