A child died because of the blockade by the Russian occupiers in Mariupol. Cause of death is dehydration, «Vchasno» reports.
Behind this story is the life of 6-year-old Tanya, who was got out from the ruins of the house. Her mother blew to pieces from a Russians shelling. The local authorities cannot say how long a little, strong Mariupol citizen has been fighting for her life.
«We cannot imagine how much suffering an innocent child had to endure. In the last minutes of her life she was alone, exhausted, frightened, terribly thirsty. This is just one of many stories from Mariupol, which has been in the blockade for eight days,» Mariupol mayor Vadym Boychenko says.
The occupiers from Russia cynically deprived half a million Mariupol residents of water, electricity, heat and communications. All exits and entrances to the city were blocked. They left people cut off from the outside world. Mariupol fell into the trap of a humanitarian catastrophe. All attempts to deliver food and medicine to citizens were blocked by the Russian army.
Ukraine has been trying to evacuate civilians from Mariupol for several days now. However, the enemy is constantly firing on civilians.
«Attempts to evacuate Mariupol residents and save people's lives were blocked. The result was something that seemed impossible in the 21st century. This is terrible news for Europe. This is a terrible reality for Ukraine. And for Mariupol it is a terrible tragedy, full of injustice and pain,» Boychenko says.
Russia is constantly shelling Mariupol with aircraft, jet artillery, and missiles.
There are no streets left without broken windows, destroyed apartments, or even houses, the National Guard of Ukraine reports.
«It is difficult to say about the victims of Russian aggression because the bodies of the dead are buried by neighbors right in the yards of the housing sector,» the report says.
Mariupol must be unblocked. It is urgent to open a humanitarian corridor and save half a million Mariupol residents.
«We shout as loud as we can: so that the world community decides to close the sky over Ukraine. It will not bring back our dear Tanya, but it will protect thousands of children's lives in Ukraine,» Mariupol authorities stress.
